About MIMF - Malaysia International Machinery Fair

About MIMF – Discover the Future of Machinery and Technology

Malaysia International Machinery Fair (MIMF) was firstly held in 1989 at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur with only 50 booths to serve the local market. Throughout the years, MIMF has evolved into Packaging & Food Processing Exhibition (MY-PACK PRO), Plastic, Mould & Tools Exhibition (MY-PLAS), Lighting, LED & SIGN Exhibition (SIGN, LED-LIGHT MALAYSIA), Bakery Exhibition (MY-BAKERY) and become the leading industry trade fair in Malaysia.

As one of the region’s most prominent machinery and technology exhibitions, MIMF continues to be a platform that fosters progress and drives the transformation of industries. Join us from the 11th to the 13th of July 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) for an extraordinary showcase of cutting-edge advancements and unparalleled networking opportunities.

MIMF 2024 is more than an exhibition – it’s a convergence of minds, a symphony of innovation, and a panorama of solutions. This year, we are embracing the future of machinery and technology in ways that will redefine industries and open new realms of possibilities. Whether you’re an industry veteran, a business owner, an investor, or a curious mind, MIMF 2024 guarantees an experience that will expand your horizons.

PACKAGING & FOOD PROCESSING

Based on the findings by the Department of Statistics, Malaysia has more than 2,000 established companies involved in the food processing industry with the majority of them are Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), this sector account for about 10% of Malaysia’s manufacturing output.

The processed food contributed around RM 21.76 billion and are exported to more than 200 countries in 2019. The demand for machinery and equipment for the F&B industry is growing with the consumers looking for higher standards and better quality in meeting the requirement of increasing export these days. This is supported by Malaysia status as a market leader for the HALAL food industry worldwide.

The herbal industry in Malaysia has developed from a reliance on traditional application to the development of higher-value products. Rising awareness of implementing herbal products as an alternative to conventional health treatment under the new norm is driving the R&D and government regulations on the herbal industry. Ultimately, Malaysia can become the key global supplier of high-quality indigenous herbs to major T&CM markets in Asia and continue progress towards sustainable and profitable development.

PlASTIC, MOULD & TOOLS

The plastics and plastic products industry is a dynamic and vibrant growth sector within the Malaysian manufacturing sector.

Over the years, the plastics industry has been supporting the growth of related sectors as well as contributing to the emergence of new markets throughout the value chain. Due to the COVID-19, a sharp increase in Plastic & Packaging industry as work from home become a new norm. With more than 1,500 companies in operation today, Malaysia is among the ASEAN region’s top exporter of plastics. In 2016, export of plastic products saw an increase of 1.24% to RM13.06 billion from RM13 billion in 2015. The growth momentum continued at RM3.5 billion in the first quarter of 2017. The primary export destinations include Europe, China, Singapore, Japan and Thailand Malaysia’s moulds and dies sector has developed rapidly over the last three decades in tandem with the overall growth of the country’s manufacturing sector. Between 2013 and 2015, a total of 54 mould and die projects with investments of RM656.6 million were approved by MIDA. The sector is moving towards advanced manufacturing technologies to meet demands for large moulds (more than 10 tonnes) in the automotive industry and demands for very precise moulds (less than 5 microns tolerance) for the electrical & electronics (E&E) and telecommunication industries. Malaysia Plastic industry is projected to register a CAGR of around 4% during the forecast period (2020-2025). To stay ahead, Malaysian manufacturers need to enhance their operational efficiency, adopt new technologies and explore new market. M’SIA-PLAS provides a good platform for both industry players in order to sustain growth in the future. (Source : MIDA)
